RM Corporate Office

RM - Brake discs and Drum, by Nurture Interior Design Studio, is a case study of an office cast in classic simplicity. A fantastic exercise in space and this is a corporate design to its finest.

According to Nurture, an office must reflect the organisation’s vision and values. “THE CORE IDEA IS TO CREATE A STRONG VISUAL IMPACT AND EXPERIENCE OF SPACE WITH THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF SCALE AND PROPORTION. TRANSITION TAKES PLACE FROM DARK TO LIGHT, NARROW TO WIDE SPACES, RAW TO FINISHED ELEGANCE.”, remarks the designers. A stylish, effective and functional work ambiance is achieved through meticulous planning and the use of natural materials. Workspaces are the controlling factor in the shaping of mental health of the employees and creates an impression on the clients too. The entire office has been spatially divided into zones, considering the working pattern of the company. The office is an eclectic mixture of nature with modern designs. This was specifically thought of so as to create a space conducive to creative thinking. As it is a place of work, muted colors give a rather sophisticated feel and creates an aura of calmness. The materials and landscaping elements are kept there, in natural forms and followed the steps to minimalism. The Directors and MD sip on a cup of tea as they gaze out the window at the quaint cobbled pathway that leads to a neatly manicured garden, while they work intensively in their chambers.

The Entrance

The entrance is copious with perforated walls, the striped backdrop to the client’s grandfather’s bust that stands proudly looking over the successes and showering blessings, the checkered flooring and ceiling. All these are further enriched by the bonsai and concealed lights. “The entrance is typically dark and subdued with black gray finishes and narrow scale. When we enter the passage, it is still dark till it opens in lit and airy chambers. These chambers have absolutely contradictory finishes and colour schemes to give a spacious and scaled up visual perception.” says designer Nirav Rakhasiya.

Reception

With a carpet area of 2500sqft, the office opens to a reception that has a magenta desk - the statement element of the space, with internal storage facility. This splash of colour is also to break the monotony. Beside the desk one can spot well arranged shelves where the products manufactured by the firm are showcased. The grey sofa just opposite the reception desk blends completely with the wall behind. Low height of the sofa with clean and rich textured fabrics add to the earthiness of the whole space. Though the wall behind, comprises three different types of natural stones with varying textures and finishes, it compliments the monochromatic language of the space. The kota stone flooring adds a tinge of green, adding a color to the earthy palette used in the space. The centre table is also customised and shaped like a gear or a brake disc which makes it a part of detailed consideration. The monotony of the space gives the logo of the company to stand clean and bold behind the reception desk; highlighted by light hanging just above it.

Employee Seating

The office has a workstation for 10-12 employees with all different types of seating arrangements to avoid chaos. Matte black tables, concrete walls and wooden bands make a statement for the whole office set up with a rusty and more earthy look. To add a statement to it, rich materials like veneer are used in ceiling and pillars in the passage area, which create a great contrast with the surroundings and give a feeling of awe at the first glance. The grey checkered table in the center of the passage and employee area acts as a functional divider as well as adds to the aesthetics.

Directors’ Chambers

The Directors’ chambers are the focus of the design. “The garden is planned in the North direction and the chambers also have large windows that provide natural lighting the whole day. The curtains are suspended from a specific height, so that the indirect light shines throughout the day from the uncovered glass above the blinds. The partitions between the directors’ chambers and workstation are made of glass to let the light reach the staff area and provide transparency with their valuable employees.” adds designer Rohit Khunt. “We don’t need to switch on the lights till at least 5 pm during summer, it is that lighted up all the time and the play of volume along with natural material palette creates a strong psychological impact on both owner and consumer.” comments the client

Conference Room

The conference room is reserved for team meetings. The white painted walls add to the spaciousness of the room, opening gates for a bit of spirituality. The walls adorned with the paintings of the great artist S.H Raza adds to the spiritual realms, being the center of attraction. The minutely embossed and recessed wall finish gives it an earthy feeling and adds to its beauty with a minimum number of furniture to clutter around. The kota stone flooring cools one’s mind, the window with a simplified wooden frame and huge size, allows one to look through into the garden. The conference table adds to the subtleness and also stands out at the same time with its mirror finish.
